Thank you to all who joined us on September 15, 2012. We raised $8000 and will be donating $4000 to both The Rainbow Connection and The University of Michigan. Please continue to GO GOLD and raise awareness for CHILDHOOD CANCER |
| It takes a village to raise a child.
What does it take to cure childhood cancer?
Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease among children in the United States.
With only 4 percent of all federal cancer research funding dedicated to pediatric cancer research,
raising awareness and funds is critical!
The gold ribbon is a symbol of childhood cancer awareness.
When will it be as universally recognized as the pink ribbon?
Childhood cancer is the number one disease killer in children.
The National Cancer Institute's (NCI) federal budget was $4.6 billion.
Of that, breast cancer received 12%, prostate cancer received 7%,
and all 12 major groups of pediatric cancers combined received less than 3%.
The American Cancer Society spends less than
70 cents of each 100 dollars raised on childhood cancer.
Cancer kills more children than any other disease,
more than Asthma, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes and Pediatric AIDS combined!
